About us
My name is Marco and I come from Bologna, Italy. My wife and I went on holiday to Kenya 20 years ago and we fell in love with Watamu. That day, we bought a house and a boat, and have been living in Kenya ever since.
We have a true passion for fishing, entertaining and good food. We love to host, so we invited our family and friends to Watamu to share in the beautiful experience. Word quickly got out about our holidays and we had too many people wanting to stay with us.
This is when Alfajiri House & Fishing was born. We renovated the house to make it comfortable for guests by building a new kitchen, staff quarters and installed a dining table that can seat 10 people. Each night, our chefs cook the fish we catch, offering a unique culinary experience with great food and wine.
Now we are pleased to offer an all inclusive family holiday where there is something for everyone.
Captain Abdala
Abdala was born and raised in Watamu, Kenya. His love for fishing started when he was young, helping his dad on their sail boat catching fish in the Watamu banks.
When he grew up, he got his first job as a crew member at Hemingway’s where he fished Marlins and big pelagic fish aboard the best fishing boats in the area.
He quickly went through the ranks until he became captain on one of the best boats in Kenya. He learned a lot during this experience making him one of the best captains around.
One day in 2013, he took Marco on a charter boat to the best fishing spots and caught a 250kg Blue Marlin. Marco was so pleased with his knowledge of the area and how he operated the boat that he decided to purchase his first boat in Kenya called Alfajiri with Abdala as his captain.
Since then, Marco and Abdala have been friends and shared fishing experiences together catching several trophy fish such as a 420kg Black Marlin after a 7 hour fight.
Abdala speaks 5 languages fluently: Italian, English, German, Swahili, Arab and he always finds a way to make you laugh and ensure you have a great time on board.
